Well, as you all should know, i started at tafe yesterday.....

had 2 bloody days of orientation (boring as all hell!) and start classes tomorrow!!!!!

So, yeah i go off to do my Diploma in Children's services, get there, and discover its a bloody 2 year course...... all the community colleges do it in a year, but tafe has to be difficult and drag it out....
but, to do it through tafe i get an exemption and centerlink pays, theres the clincher.... couldnt afford it other wise!!

so year.... 2 years at tafe, and 2 years on Centerlinks Austudy :(

the austudy bit sucks!!!

at the moment i get newstart allowance, but coz im studying i get put onto austudy.....
Fair you say?? , well no not really, coz austudy is less bloody money....

you would think that they would encourage you to study and further yourself and your career choices, but no.... they give you less money to follow your dreams!!!

so, as those of you that have been\or are on centerlink benefits you will understand my dilemma...

before, i had learned to budget and survive on the minimal assistance the good old government provides, but now, i gotta try and survive on less money, and find money to pay for the extra fuel my car will now use to actually get to tafe every day.... not to mention resources and text books and all that jazz...

so, stop complaining and get a job you say???

jobs arent that easy to come by... expecially when you have to be able to pick and choose your hours to fit in around tafe, and tell me, how you supposed to study, if you need to work every other waking hour to make money to survive....

Well.... on a better note.....

in one of my previous updates, i said i was a bit worried about starting in the diploma with a whole heap of people who had already done the Certificate III course, so where more knowledgable than me academically...

well it turns out i dont have to worry about that....

the diploma runs in 4 stages.....

i've started in stage one..... (with mostly young girls straight out of school)
so, i've regained my power of knowledge, so will be at the top of the class academically.

I like that!!!

i know it probably sounds horrible, but ehh, i like to just be that little step ahead.... gives me a whole lot more confidence.... and because everything has to be perfect, theres not ging to be so much stress on my head.... coz im not sub conciously competing with any one!!!

We discovered today that the ranking system in our final marks will be slight different now...

before, in all your classes you recieved either, pass,credit, distinction or fail...
that hasnt changed....

but when you got your certificate at the end as long as you had at least passed everything you got your diploma....

but now, you get either...

a passing diploma
a credit diloma
or
a distinction diploma...

not proper terms there.... but you get my drift...

so now, not only do i have to work towards distinctions in all my classes, but also for the end result...

geez... does it never end... lol....
